The Beep Chiller Technician Skills certification checks whether you understand how a central chilled water plant works: chilled water at about 6 to 7 °C, pumps carrying it to the air handlers, and the condenser water loop and cooling tower that carry heat away from a water-cooled chiller.
It also covers flow switches and strainers, cooling tower water treatment, daily log sheets, delta T and approach temperature, the safe start-up order, running fewer chillers at good load, recovering refrigerant, and finding why a chiller trips on high condenser or low evaporator pressure.
The assessment takes about 7 minutes, is auto-scored, and produces a certificate with a unique verifiable ID you can share with anyone. Beep is backed by Google for Startups, Microsoft for Startups and AWS, with over 100,000 people certified across 300+ fields.

What the Chiller Technician Skills assessment tests
Chilled water and condenser water systems
Supply temperatures, pumps, cooling towers and how heat leaves the plant.
Safety interlocks and maintenance
Flow switches, strainer cleaning and cooling tower water treatment.
Logs and performance
Reading log sheets, delta T and low delta T problems.
Plant operation
Start-up order with proven water flow and sequencing chillers to the load.
Fault finding and refrigerant handling
High condenser and low evaporator pressure trips, approach temperature and recovery.
Who this chiller technician certification is for
HVAC technicians moving into central plant work, chiller operators and plant room technicians in district cooling, towers, malls, hospitals and hotels, and maintenance technicians who want to show they understand chilled water plants.
What the credential is useful for
- Add a verifiable chiller technician credential to your CV with an ID employers can check.
- Show a plant supervisor or FM company that you can read a chiller log and find the cause of a trip.
- Refresh your fundamentals before a chiller technician or plant operator interview.
- Benchmark your knowledge before moving from split units to central chiller plants.
Chiller Technician Skills certification FAQs
Is this a refrigerant handling licence or an official trade certificate?
No. This is Beep's own knowledge assessment, issued and assessed by Beep only. It is not linked to any government body, utility, district cooling company, equipment maker or trade test centre, and it is not a licence of any kind. It does not promise a job, visa or salary.
Does it teach basic AC theory?
Only as it applies to chiller plants. Basic refrigeration cycle parts, refrigerants and split units are covered by the HVAC Technician Fundamentals certification. This one focuses on chilled water plant operation and fault finding.
How is this different from the HVAC Technician certification on Beep?
HVAC Technician covers the refrigeration cycle and common AC units. Chiller Technician covers the central plant: chilled and condenser water loops, cooling towers, logs, delta T, start-up and chiller trips.
