UI/UX Design Certification

The Beep UI/UX Design certification separates the two halves of the discipline and tests both. On the UX side, it covers the research and evaluation practices a designer is expected to run: what a user persona is for, which methods count as UX research and which do not, and what a heuristic evaluation actually involves — including which of Nielsen's ten usability heuristics is being described.

On the UI side, the questions get concrete. A wireframe is tested on what it is and what it is for, not on how pretty it looks. Fitts's Law appears, specifically on what it predicts about target size and distance. Accessibility is treated as a requirement rather than a nice-to-have: you are asked for the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio for normal text, and for the principles that make an interface usable for everyone.

There is also a systems question that catches people who have only worked file-by-file: what a design token typically stores. Tooling is covered lightly — the tool the industry widely uses for UI design. About seven minutes, automatically scored, and the certificate carries a unique verifiable ID.

What the UI/UX Design assessment tests

Who this UI/UX certification is for

Product and visual designers formalising self-taught practice, front-end developers who own UI decisions, product managers who review design work, freelancers pitching design engagements, and design students preparing for portfolio reviews where interviewers ask about heuristics and accessibility, not just visuals.

UI/UX Design certification FAQs

Do I need to submit a portfolio for the UI/UX certification?

No. This is a knowledge assessment covering UX research, usability heuristics, interaction principles, accessibility and design systems. Your portfolio stays your own — the certificate sits alongside it.

Is accessibility a significant part of the assessment?

Yes. Accessibility principles and the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio for normal text are both tested directly.

Is any specific design tool required?

No hands-on tool work is required. You should recognise the tool most widely used for UI design and understand what a design token stores in a design system.
